Modern Kinesiology is very diverse, from its development in the early 1900s as a muscle strength test, then used in chiropractory to identify and assess manipulations, to later being combined with Eastern health systems - particularly from India, Tibet and China - and with Western medical and other health systems, to produce a highly adaptable, holisitc health system applicable to almost any health issue. EAST MEETS WEST Overall, we view Kinesiology as an East-meets-West ‘Body-Mind & More’ Health System, that cross-references ‘indications’ to identify and positively address physical and/or non-physical issues - including issues that have proven difficult to gain improvement through other health systems. PRACTITIONER diversity Like many types of health professions, Kinesiology practitioners are diverse, with practitioners trained from as little as a brief course to learn to ‘read the arm’, through to multi-year, intensive study of Kinesiology techniques, often combined with study/practice in other health disciplines.
